This data set contains points for all the named places on the South Dakota Official Highway Map. Other named places, such as historical places, are not included.
All attributes are accurate as of the 2000 Census (for population) and the 2002 Highway map (for the places).
Points were placed at the approximate center of the place. Accuracy is less for larger places, such as Rapid City with 50 square miles, and better for smaller places, such as Mystic with a fraction of a square mile
Estimate of accuracy based on the average size of the places shown.
