<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This dataset contains the USGS 1:24,000 National Hydrology Plus High Resolution (NHDPlus HR) data version 1.0. map for Pennington County and the surrounding counties. Attributes include the feature name, type, and code from the NHD. All other NHD attributes have been dropped. An "intermittent" field was added and calculated from the feature codes to aid in stream cartography. In the Rapid City area, the NHD data has been replaced by hydrology lines created for the 2008 Rapid City aerial photo project. These lines were created at both 1:1200 and 1:2400 scales.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
This dataset was created for a county-wide hydrography dataset from the USGS 1:24,000 National Hydrology Dataset (NHD) with more detailed data in the Rapid City area.
Original 1:24,000 digital maps were created by the USGS.

The applicable USGS NHD basin map files were converted to feature classes and appended. The resulting feature class was clipped by the Pennington County boundary.
The feature name, type, and code attributes were renamed to conform to the schema adopted for all the hydro layers and these fields were populated from the existing NHD fields. All of the original NHD fields were then dropped.
Rapid City area hydrology from 2008 aerial photo project

The data in the Rapid City area was clipped out and replaced with the more detailed data from the 2008 Rapid City aerial photo project.
