Description: The National Hydrography Dataset (NHD) is a feature-based database that interconnects and uniquely identifies the stream segments or reaches that make up the nation's surface water drainage system. NHD data was originally developed at 1:100,000-scale and exists at that scale for the whole country. This high-resolution NHD, generally developed at 1:24,000/1:12,000 scale, adds detail to the original 1:100,000-scale NHD. (Data for Alaska, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands was developed at high-resolution, not 1:100,000 scale.) Local resolution NHD is being developed where partners and data exist. The NHD contains reach codes for networked features, flow direction, names, and centerline representations for areal water bodies. Reaches are also defined on waterbodies and the approximate shorelines of the Great Lakes, the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans and the Gulf of Mexico. The NHD also incorporates the National Spatial Data Infrastructure framework criteria established by the Federal Geographic Data Committee.4/07/2015- Featuring the Cyclone, Hawthorne, Murphy, and South Side ditches. Renamed and moved to project geodatabase.-E.Walter6/23/2015-Added Lone Tree Ditch to feature and saved in project geodatabase. E. Walter1/18/2022- Corrected alignment of Lone Tree Ditch and added branches as per DANR. Ellen Madden1/18/2022- Addition of Little Giant Ditch as per DANR. Ellen Madden
Description: This dataset contains the 1:100,000 scale USGS Digital Line Graph (DLG) map for Pennington County. Attributes have been added to convert the major/minor DLG schema to the National Hydrology Dataset (NHD) feature type and feature code schema.

Description: This dataset contains the USGS 1:24,000 National Hydrology Plus High Resolution (NHDPlus HR) data version 1.0. for Pennington County and the surrounding counties, including a strip about 12 miles wide in Wyoming and Nebraska. Several creeks and streams were locally digitized to better match the available aerial photography. Attributes include the feature name, type, and code from the NHD. All other NHD attributes have been dropped. An "intermittent" field was added and calculated from the feature codes to aid in stream cartography.

Description: This dataset contains the USGS 1:24,000 National Hydrology Plus High Resolution (NHDPlus HR) data version 1.0 map for Pennington County and the surrounding counties. Attributes include the feature name, type, and code from the NHD. Additionally, the elevation attribute was maintained from the NHD although there are few entries for elevation in the data. All other NHD attributes have been dropped. An attribute was added and calculated for intermittent vs. perennial ponds to be used for cartography. In the Rapid City area, the NHD data has been replaced by hydrology lines created for the 2008 Rapid City aerial photo project. These polygons were created at both 1:1200 and 1:2400 scales.
